Seven Magic Mountains Art Installation

All seven of the Seven Magic Mountains
Today was an off day.  Once upon a time, an off day meant a road trip day.  Seeing as it's been way too long since my last road trip, today was a worthy road trip day, even if the road trip was only to Jean, Nevada, to see the art installation "Seven Magic Mountains."

The art installation is a series of colorfully-painted boulders, stacked high.  The plan was to be an unnatural collection of hoodoos.  I saw them on the side of the road when I still a few miles north of Jean.  From Las Vegas, the best way to approach them is to take Las Vegas Boulevard south from the M Resort, to avoid having to double-back the five miles from Jean.

The second thing I noticed -- after the garish colors -- was how many people were there.  I was surprised.  I didn't know it was a thing.

Lots of people just wandering around.  Lots of picture taking.

This is an art installation that is scheduled to be up through May 2018.

Lots of pinks and yellows.  Too few greens and blues.  No purples.

Here's a close up of one boulder, taken because I could:

It's a short drive south of town and parking is free.  But it's culture.  What's not to love?

This was my attempt at shooting an artsy picture that made some sort of statement.  The glaringly bright afternoon sun kind of put the kibosh on that plan.

Or just go.
