Lizard Black Pig for Dinner

Avenida Manuel Remigio, along the ocean.
I know. in every beach town in the USA it would be called either "Atlantic Avenue" or "Ocean Boulevard".
After spending the day in Fatima, it was time to explore the beach front in Nazaré.

Two blocks inland was not very "beachy":

In fact, it was agricultural.

Hey you kids!  Get off of my lawn!

Apparently, they too were heading to the beach to watch the sunset:

These are for the fishing nets.  This is still a working fishing town, in addition to a surfer town:

The old colorful fishing boats have been retired and lined up on the beach:

This statue is called "Mãe de Nazaré," Mother of Nazaré:

Sunset:

All this walking was making me hungry.  (Actually, it was very little walking.  But I did walk a fair amount earlier in the day.)

Dinner was at the Restaurante Katarina.  I ordered "Legarto de porco preto":

Translation:  literally:  "Lizard black pig."  It was more pig than lizard.  It was strips of grilled pork.  Not sure where the "lizard" part came in.

Dessert was panna cotta. topped with a berry compote.  And all through the meal, the restaurant played techno-muzak versions of songs by the Rolling Stones and Madonna.
