The Grand Tetons as seen from within the eponymous Grand Teton National Park |
The drive from Idaho Falls to Grand Teton was along the Snake River.
It too was spectacular.
Made me want to break out the ol' rocket cycle and try to hop over it. The town of Jackson was not really worth stopping in. It was generically upscale in that "generic upscale" sort of way that generically upscale vacation destinations can be. Soon it was national park time:
And here are those Grand Tetons.
Do they look like breasts to you? That would be some weird biology. They must have been named by someone who was seriously missing female companionship for these to be thought of as being breast-like.
And here is a large bronze moose at the Grand Teton National Park Visitor Center:
This is as close to big wildlife as I want to get this trip.
Por ejemplo, I got out of the car at one viewpoint and saw this sign.
The trail was closed due to "bear activity." Back in the car!
And off to beautiful Jackson Lake. The water here must be decently warm. At Lake Yellowstone, the water is said to be so cold that if you even stick a toe in it you will instantly turn into a block of ice.
Lake Jackson, apparently is safe. So let's take a beach selfie:
And it's off to nearby Yellowstone. Posting will be slow as long as I am in Yellowstone because there is no wi-fi in Yellowstone -- something about you're supposed to enjoy the escape into nature. I do have hard-wired internet access through an ethernet cable, but the internet here is slower than late 20th Century dial-up that you accessed through one of those 1000 hours of free AOL discs.
I'll post more when I can.
